GwaiiTel operates the Haida Gwaii Community Network, connecting the seven largest communities of Haida Gwaii. It serves as an aggregator and wholesale reseller of broadband Internet services for local ISPs or major business/institutional customers, and facilitates the development of such services for social and economic benefit of the communities and residents of Haida Gwaii. The GwaiiTel Society is incorporated under the BC Societies Act and registered with the CRTC as a “non-dominant carrier” (telecommunications/phone company). It is jointly owned and operated by its members: • Village of Masset (incorporated) • Old Massett Village Band Council (First Nation) • Village of Port Clements (incorporated) • Community of Tlell (Skeena-Queen Charlotte Regional District Area D) • Skidegate Band Council (First Nation) • Village of Queen Charlotte (incorporated) • Community of Sandspit (Skeena-Queen Charlotte Regional District Area E / Moresby Island Management Committee).
